OUR SOLUTION FOLLOW-UP QUESTION
The Bayonne Bridge is one of the longest steel arch bridges in the world—connecting Bayonne, New Jersey, to Staten Island, New York. Outfitting a bridge of that scope and size requires cable that is built to last that can be installed quickly. The Port Authority of New Jersey turned to Service Wire, the leader in roadway lighting cable, to provide the high-quality low voltage power cable they needed.
Known as the "Raise the Bridge" project, the construction project raised the clearance under the bridge from 151 to 215 feet, allowing the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to welcome larger, more efficient vessels to their ports, leading to cleaner air in the region. The project would require over 100,000 feet of Feeder MC armored cable and an additional 75,000 feet of 600V XHHW-2 single conductors for the project.
"Service Wire's Feeder MC is a perfect fit for this type of project since it can be used in place of conduit and wire, allowing significant savings in labor time," said Tony Holderby, Regional Sales Manager. "We were very excited to be a part of this investment to the region and proud to be approved by the New York Port Authority to provide the wire," Holderby added.
