PROJECT: Fall River Foundry
Fall River Foundry (FRF), in Fall River, WI had a dilemma. It was adding an 80,000 sq. ft. addition for finished goods and new robotics. Fall River Foundry specializes in brass, for such things as water meters, large hinges, and cemetery urns.
FRF utility transformers were on the opposite side of the old building and the new distribution gear was designed on the complete opposite of the new addition. The analysis was that it was more cost effective to run new feeders from one end to the other, in cable tray rather than setting new transformers and paying the utility to set new poles and an incoming power lines. They had a tight deadline as not to loose production time.
The solution was to use ServicePlex® for the 380' parallel runs of 500mcm Plex through the tray. The foundry's in-house maintenance was shocked at the ease ServicePlex® installed and actually finished the wire installation a week ahead of schedule. Instead of pulling one single 500MCM feeder at a time they pulled the 4-conductor ServicePlex® four times faster and it was already bundled to tie off in the tray.
The ServicePlex® allowed them to easily drop out of the tray to the varying positions of the robotics. The tray also allows for flexibility for future growth. They have one more group of Robotics coming in later this year and they said that ServicePlex® is the only way to go.
